Environmental speaker
I'm available to speak in person or virtually.
I give talks about people’s relationship to nature and how it needs to adapt to a rapidly changing world. I can help you and your organization see the natural world differently.
The main strength of my presentations is that I draw on extensive experience not only as a naturalist, but also as a trained ecologist as well as a philosopher and social scientist. I weave these threads together to question conventional assumptions about understanding, loving, and caring for nature. Rather than offering simple answers, I invite you into engaging conversations about wonder, grief and responsibility.
I work diligently to ensure that my talks are accessible, educational, entertaining and interactive--and I will develop a talk that helps meet your organization's needs. I have given over 80 invited lectures, including 25 keynotes and featured plenary lectures, to more than 6,000 people on six continents. In addition to speaking to professionals, I have given presentations to general audiences ranging from high school students through to seniors’ groups. In every case, I combine compelling stories and leading-edge research to encourage you to see species, landscapes, and environmental challenges through a fresh lens.
